Welcome, and thank you for visiting Peace Lutheran Church online. We hope that our website highlights the wide variety of worship, fellowship and service opportunities available. Please feel free to read more about our church on this site, or come in for a visit. We would love to greet you and share with you our love for Jesus Christ and for you, our neighbor.
Mission
Peace Lutheran Church is the gathering together of members and friends to proclaim the word of God, to witness to God's grace, and to be servants in accordance with the teaching of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Vision Statement
Bringing God's Peace to the Peace by the power of the Holy Spirit!
The establishment of Lutheran Church and congregation in Fort St. John goes back to 1930. At that time, Pastor Peter Ellington was serving in the South Peace area and added Fort St. John to his schedule as he saw the need. The first formal service was held in 1945. The first resident Pastor was Pastor Osborne Olson who served from 1945 to 1951.
The church we are in currently, was built in October 1980. This Church is dedicated to the glory of God.
Looking back at the road traveled by the Peace Lutheran congregation since 1945, there have been several times when there appeared a fork in the road. Pastors and congregation contemplated which way to go. They sought God's guidance and will. God has honoured their commitment to Him.
On the 24th of February 2008, the BC Synod installed
Rev. Dr. Kebede F. Dibaba as a
Pastor of Peace Lutheran Church. He has been serving the congregation since then.
Lord God, we thank You for summer and all its fun activities. We thank You for all the connections we made with family and friends and yes, even strangers. We pray for comfort and strength for those whose summer brought sorrow and pain due to loss of a loved one or other types of loss. Thank You that You are the same yesterday, today and forever and that our circumstances don’t change who You are. Thank You for the refuge we have in You.
We pray for all who are going back into classes. May they be attentive and study hard. Thank You for the many opportunities for learning. We pray for encouragement and perseverance for teachers. May each class room be a safe place with compassion, joy and respect for one another and You.
We Pray for Pastor and Lucia as they travel to Ethiopia. May they have safe travels and good health. Bless and strengthen them as they share the Gospel message with the people in their home land. We thank You for all who will be helping-out, here at PLC in their absence .
We continue to pray for Canada, that Christians would be able to publicly worship You. We pray for wisdom and strength for those who have already been denied this. And we pray against this persecution. May Christians be faithful and united in praying for the Christian Church and for one another.
Thank You for the way You have gifted people to translate Your Word. Help them to balance ministry work and family responsibilities May they be given strength, encouragement and rest in their daily work.
We pray for judges and all officials who make decisions that affect our nation and our families. We ask that You would guide them in wisdom, justice and righteousness.
Lord, it isn’t always easy to do good, be kind, or to forgive . May I be willing to accept Your help, strength, and guidance, so I can be the person You are calling me to be. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You as I go about life. You told us to “love our neighbor as ourselves”. Thank You for my neighbors.
Whether it is the people next door or people I encounter during the day, help me to love them with Christ like love. May I remember that as I serve others, I am serving You.
We pray for persecuted Christians. May they encounter Jesus as they suffer unspeakable atrocities. Comfort their families and friends and we pray for world leaders that their hearts would soften and that they would have genuine love and compassion for the good of others.
We pray for Christians everywhere, may we be faithful in worshipping You, in the study of Your word and in praying to You. Help us to encourage one another.
Lord in Your mercy hear our prayer.
